HISTORY.

THIS Prayer Circle was organized in Great Salt Lake City, Utah, September 1, A. D. 1858, and was called, according to the custom, after the name of the Apostle presiding. Meetings to be on Sunday at one o'clock. Elder John Taylor, President; Amos Milton Musser, Clerk.

SUNDAY, July 7, 1867 President Heber C. Kimball was present and offered prayer. Great power was manifested at this meeting.

IN the year 1874 Apostle John Taylor, being requested to meet with the First Presidency in their circle, left this circle, placing Elder Joseph Horne in charge. Elder Taylor's last attendance was on October 15, 1869. He died July 25, 1887.

SEPTEMBER 6, 1875, no meeting held, on account of the funeral of President George A. Smith.

...

The Circle held from September 2, 1858 to December 24, 1894, one-thousand eight-hundred and fifty-two meetings.

ELDER JOSEPH HORNE has attended one-thousand and seventy meetings. He was absent from the city in 1861-2 in the States, and from January 5, 1885, until 1888, on account of the prosecutions for conscience sake. During the years 1893-4 his absences have been due to his advanced age and impaired eyesight; on which account he has been excused from further attendance, except as he may from time to time find it convenient to the present.
