A drop of blood can only leave the heart through the arteries and can return only through the veins, there is no other way possible destroying the body; one is always the door out, the other the door back in, and it would have to steal its way back if it entered any other way. The veins are but the extension of the arteries which reach from and to the heart, Christ is but Adam extended from Eden to Eden.

. . .

He that loveth not knoweth not God, so men in their single state are terrestrial and cannot keep a celestial law, as “God is love,” and without a wife he can not love and must be in a single state or state of non-production. The creative power being in male and female, by love, “there must be a compound in all things, or there would be no creation.” And if the first Adam had not a wife, we would not have been here, subject to death, and again if Christ the second Adam does not love we cannot live again “through him,” for as in Adam all die so in Christ will all be made alive; it must answer as face to face in a mirror; “as is the earth, earthy; so is man in a fallen and carnal state, as is the heavenly,” in a state of righteousness, “so is the heavenly,” or spiritual things in likeness of temporal, and vice versa.
