Peter wakes the sailor (who is the archangel Michael)

6 (1) Peter rejoiced, went down to wake up the sailor, and said, “Get up, brother, to look at God’s glory. I do not renounce my Christ, and you should not be an unbeliever, but believe in my Christ. Rise, then, and look how the sea has calmed.”

(2) Suddenly the archangel Michael rose and kissed Peter on the cheek and on his head and said, “I do believe, father, that the god you believe in is great and there is no god but him. I beg your wisdom to make me believe in him.”

Peter said, “Believe, brother, so that you will be saved; none who believe in him will perish, nor will they be humiliated, but they will be saved.”

Peter baptizes the sailor

7 (1-2) And (Michael) said to the apostle, “Baptize me, father, in Christ’s name, so that I will believe and be saved.”

The apostle rose and (started) praying, “I beg your kindness, Lord. Glory to you, Lord God, to convert this man who is glorifying your holy name and is asking for baptism in your holy name.”

(3) He took him by the hand and led him to the sea and said, “What name shall I call you?”

And he said to him, “My name is regent, as was my father’s.”

(4) Having been baptized with this name, a pillar of light (appeared), shining from the skies to the sea where the sailor had been baptized, and a mighty voice spoke, “Alleluia.” And there came four hundred people who had heard about the miracles that took place upon the baptized one, and they were baptized by the Lord’s apostle. (5) The apostle rejoiced and glorified God, having seen the miracles taking place upon the baptized one, and exclaimed, “Come and be baptized and accept the grace revealed to me and to everyone who believes in my Christ!”
