Council of Fifty adds several new members on March 1, 1845, including John D. Lee, John E. Page, and Lewis Dana.

Saturday March 1st. 1845 Council met in the Seventies Hall and organized at 10 o clock A.M. Prest. B[righam] Young in the chair. Also members present S[amuel] Bent, A[lpheus] Cutler, R[eynolds] Cahoon, W[illiam] W. Phelps, G[eorge] Miller, N[ewel] K. Whitney, C[ornelius] P. Lott, L[ucien] Woodworth[,] L[evi] Richards, J[ohn] M. Bernhisel, J[ohn] D. Parker, H[eber] C. Kimball, O[rson] Spencer, P[hilip] B. Lewis, E[lias] Smith, J[ohn] Taylor, C[harles] C. Rich, O[rson] Pratt, A[lmon] W. Babbitt, J[oseph] W. Coolidge, O. P. [Orrin Porter] Rockwell, G[eorge] A. Smith, B[enjamin] F. Johnson, W[illard] Richards Recorder & W[illiam] Clayton clk.
The chairman stated to the council that [he] had selected the number to fill the council to 50. Some of those he had selected were now present and some away and brother [Shadrach] Roundy was sick. He said there are a number of the members of this council absent on business who will probably be gone some length of time and he could see no impropriety in taking in other good men to occupy their seats in their absence. He had invited also brother [Lewis] Dana, a Lamanite to sit with us, and receive instructions to prepare him for future business. He was of the mind that brother Dana, and John Pack and John D. Lee be admitted with us to day On motion The chairmans suggestions were agreed to by unanimous vote.
A messenger was now sent for L[ucian] R. Foster. The brethren who had been selected by the chairman to fill up the council, who were prensent were invited to be seated in the centre, untill the usual ceremonies of admission were gone through.
The council then opened by singing “Hark listen to the Trumpeters” & prayer by S. Bent.
Then chairman then read over the names of those proposed for admission, and the council voted on the reception of each in the following order, viz Joseph Young, John E. Page, David Fullmer, Theodore Turley, Albert P. Rockwood, Jonathon [Jonathan] Dunham, and Lucian R. Foster. These were all accepted by the unanimous vote of the council While voting L. R. Foster came in.
The chairman then asked shall we take brothers Dana, John Pack & John D. Lee, to supply the places of absent members.
