Heber J. Grant writes that B. H. Roberts was being released from his mission.
Heber J. Grant, Journal, April 2, 1927, MS 1233, CHL
Saturday, April 2nd, 1927.
Dictated journal for yesterday and gave attention to the Presidency’s mail.
Brother B.H. Roberts called at 10:00 A.M. and we announced to him that it had been decided to release him as president of the Eastern States Mission and appoint Brother Henry H. Rolapp in his stead. He expressed pleasure with the appointment of his successor, said that he had thoroughly enjoyed the five years he had presided over the Eastern States Mission, the happiest and saddest years of his life. During this time two of his wives have died. He stated that he had thoroughly enjoyed his mission but his spirit was in accord with having a release. We had quite an extended talk with him regarding his contact with the Jews of New York and his recent articles that were published in one of the Jewish papers there.
