Elder Brigham H. Roberts,

Dear Brother Roberts:
Having learned that on the 13th. inst. you will reach your sixty-sixth birthday, it gives us very much pleasure indeed to send you our sincere and heartfelt congratulations, and to wish you very many happy returns, of the day.
You have our love and confidence, and your labors at home and abroad for.the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, from the days of your young manhood, have had our admiration.
Brother Grant recalls that on more than one occasion he has heard the late President Frances M. Lyman refer to you as "The chief defender of the Faith". As the years come and go we feel assured that you will continue to merit this splendid appellation.
We are assured that you can look back on the great missionary work which you have accomplished with tongue and pen, in defending and advocating the truth as restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith, with joy and satisfaction that will be far beyond that which could possibly come to you from having secured the wealth or honors of men, had your time been given to those things which are counted of worth by those who know not the Truth.
You have our sincere and earnest prayers that the choicest blessings of the Lord may attend you in your present missionary labors, which are the greatest in the sight of the Lord in which we as his children can be engaged.
In Time and Eternity you shall have the gratitude of those who are brought to a knowledge of the Truth through your efforts and those of the devoted men and women who are laboring under your direction.
That God may bless you forever and give you and your loved ones peace, prosperity and happiness in this and an eternity of joy in the life to come is our most earnest prayer. With love, we are,
Your sincere friends,
Heber J. Grant.
Augusta W. Grant.
