Palmyra, New York,

Thursday, September 22nd, 1927.

Today is the one hundredth anniversary of the delivery of the golden plates to Joseph Smith, from which the Book of Mormon was translated by the inspiration of the Lord.

We held a meeting this morning on the Hill Cumorah, something over two hundred people being present.

President B.H. Roberts arrived from New York this morning and also President Henry H. Rolapp. Brother Rolapp presided at the meeting on the Hill Cumorah. The speakers were John H. Taylor, Chas. H. Hart, Brigham H. Roberts and I. Brother Roberts spoke about an hour, I spoke about half an hour and the other brethren about ten minutes each. The opening prayer was offered by Brother Roberts. It was indeed a very inspirational prayer and I enjoyed it very much. The benediction was offered by Major Howard Bennion. There was some good singing furnished by the missionaries—one or two nice solos.

We held a meeting this afternoon in the Sacred Grove. The speakers were Henry H. Rolapp, Brother Roberts and I. The opening prayer was offered by Brother Hart, and I offered the benediction, leaving my blessing upon the missionaries. I should say that the missionaries of the Northern States, Canadian and Eastern States Missions would constitute about seventy-five percent of those in attendance at the meetings today.
