תַּ֫חַשׁ I 14 n.[m.] perh. dolphin—תָּֽחַשׁ; pl. תְּחָשִׁים—dolphin, porpoise, or other animal whose skin is used for leather, or perh. tahash, a specific kind of leather, usu. for cover of tabernacle and its furnishings and utensils; for sandals (Ezk 16:10), <OBJ> נעל provide with sandals of Ezk 16:10 (‖ רִקְמָה variegated material). <CSTR> עוֹר תַּחַשׁ skin of dolphin Nm 4:6, 8, 10, 11, 12 (all four תָּ֑חַשׁ) 4:14, עֹרֹת תְּחָשִׁים skins of dolphins Ex 25:5‖35:7 26:14‖36:19 35:23 39:34 (הַתְּחָשִׁים; all four + עֹרֹת [ה]אֵילִם skins of rams), מִכְסֵה הַתַּחַשׁ covering of dolphin (skin) Nm 4:25.
