During their absence, there was a division took place in the church here. quite a large party desented from the church; being dissatisifed with the late reorganization of the church, and with the heads of the church all-together, and all who uphold them; calling them hereticks &c. the Leaders of this band is Martin Harris, Warren Parrish, Joseph Coe, Luke Jonson, and John Boynton. (I have no doubt but it will pain your heat to read those two last names; but so it is) they have by their stratagem drawn away many; and some who some I believe are honest. (but such I think will soon return) they hold meetings every week; the tenor of their worship is to expose the iniquitys of this church, they say when they have done that; they calculate to preach the Gospel. (but I think they will be illy prepared to do it) they profess to believe the book of Mormon, and Covenants. but in works deny them. they join with those who had previously left the church and openly profess infidelity; . . .
