Thursday, April 10. Met with the trustees of the Nauvoo House Association and examined the books, elected members of the Board. Elder Amasa Lyman and myself being Peter Haws and George Miller, President.
Met in Council with the Twelve. President Brigham Young, Elders Heber C. Kimball, Orson Hyde, John Taylor, Willard Richards, John E. Page, and Amasa Lyman were present. A resolution was passed to disfellowship George J. Adams and Samuel Brannan. I wrote a letter to Parley P. Pratt on the subject. He advised Lucius N. Scoville, the keeper of the Lodge, to suspend the work of that institution in consequence of information furnished us by Dr. Goforth, of hostile actions on the part of the Grand Lodge of Illinois against the Lodge at Nauvoo. We also agreed to do all the printing here and to finish the Masonic Hall and put the printing office into it and to begin and move the type and make the necessary preparations for to do good work. Elder George D. Watt read a proof of President Young's sermon, on the first day of the conference. It was the first reporting he had ever done, and it showed the great benefit of the art of phonography.
In the evening I went to a prayer meeting at Dr. Willard Richards.
Friday, April 11. Went to Council at the Seventies Hall, but adjourned to the Masonic Hall. Spent the day in discussion on the subject of hunting a home in the West, and many other matters of interest. I returned home in the evening much satisfied and went to bed.
