Mesoamerican depiction of prisoners being tied together by rope.
Simon Martin and Nikolai Grube, Chronicle of the Maya Kings and Queens, 2nd ed. (London: Thames and Hudson, 2008). 135
This fine late work shows Itzamnaaj Bahlam IV inside a palace or pavilion (note the tied curtains above his head) and seated on a throne that bears his (reversed) name. He is receiving a group of three prisoners from one of his provincial lieutenants, Aj Chak Maax ('He of the Great/Red Monkey'), who made the captures in 783. It comes from an unidentified site dubbed Laxtunich.
