Sat., March 3rd. J.D. Lee met in a Legislative capacity with the council of Fiffty at the Wm. W. Phelphs S[c]hool Room. Prayre by C. P. Lott. The forenoon was Spent in deliberating upon the case of Ira E. West, Thomas Byres, & others. An intermission of 1 3/4 hour was given. At 2 p.m. the council was called to geather & Some taul Speeches were made relative to the duties and Power of this Council, by E. Snow & others. Repeated the Name of this Council (SS). Verily thus Saith the Lord, by this Name ye shall be called. The Kingdom of God & its Laws and Justice & Judgement in my hands. Signed Ah man christ. Then said the verry Name of this Council is a louder tet then any Elder can preach. Then can the members of this council suffer their sympathy to arrise to the extant that mercy will Rob Justice of its claims, Suffering infernals, thieves, Murderers, Whoremongers & every other wicked curst to [exist?], through mercy to live amoung us, adding sin to sin, crime to crime, currupting the morals of the People when their Blood ought to floow [sic] to atone for their crimes. I want their cursed heads to be cut off that they may atone for their Sins, that mercy may have her claims upon them in the day of redemption.

Pres. B. Young said that he did not feel like talking much here, as they were exposed to eaves dropers. It was then voted that the Marshal should receive his comission from this council, & signed by the chairman, & counter signed by the clerk, & that he have a right to appoient depty Marshals who shall receive their commissions in like manner. It was then voted by the council that the 5th day of Marc[h] should be considered the last day of counting the game between the two cos. of Hunters. Council desolved to Sund., March 4, at 9 morning, to meet in the House of Elder H. C. Kimble's.
