View of the Hebrews; exhibiting the Destruction of Jerusalem: the certain Restoraton of Judah and Israel; and an Address of the Prophet Isaiah relative to their restoration. By ETHAN SMITH, Pastor of a Church in Poultney, Vt.

. . .

The work before us contains a highly interesting sketch of the siege and destruction of Jerusalem and its magnificent temple, interspersed with notices of the striking fulfilment of prophecy. The author considers the restoration of Judah and lsrael as not only certain, but as to receive an accomplishment in their literal return to their own land. He supposes also that the American Indians are the true descendants of the ten tribes of Israel.

. . .

Mr. Smith is by no means the first author, who has countenanced the opinion that the American Indians are the descendants of the Hebrews. The late venerable Dr. Boudinot was for more than forty of the last yeare of his life of the same judgment. Other respectable authors have furnished presumptive evidence of a similar idea. Whether Mr. Shith's views of this and other subjects are perfectly correct, it is not our province to determine. Of this we feel convinced, that the religious community are indebted to him for the pains he has taken in this hie sketch of the Hebrews; and we hope that his labour will be amply remunerated, not only in seeing the salutary tendency of his book in exciting Christians to their duty in reference to the Jews, but also in its rapid sale.
