Western Times cites View of the Hebrews in article.
"Literature," Western Times (Exeter, UK) (January 3, 1829): 3
We last week shortly noticed this clever little work, and now redeem our promise of adverting again to it. The preface contains a sketch of the use of the opinion advocated by the author. It seems that "this subject engaged the attention of the Inhabitants of the United States, but too late to obtain that clear investigation which is necessary for a full understanding of any subject. References to it, and statement of facts which afford us an early light, are found in some of the public prints, and in Letters and Travels previous to the year 1816, when a volume was published at Trent, New Jersey, by the Rev. Dr. Elias Boudinot, which bears for its title, A Star in the West, or a humble attempt to discover the long lost Ten Tribes of Israel." And in the year 1825, A View of the Hebrews, or Tribes of Israel, in America, by Ethan Smith, Poultney, U. S. made its appearance. In both these works the opinions of the Hebrew origin of the native Americans is very elaborately advocated.
