Alice Daniels describes events surrounding the setting apart of her father, William P. Daniels, as branch president.
Love Branch, South African Mission, Miscellaneous Minutes, December 14, 1931, 211, LR 11787 19, Church History Library
Mission President Don Mark Dalton - Glad to be here. Knows that the Lord answers his prayers for guidance. Sometimes there are movements started here just at the same time Pres. Witdsoe writes about them. Pres. Widtsoe wrote and said that he felt the same way. He feels sure that the Lord is at the head of this work, and if we live the commandments the Lord will not withhold anything from the man. Nothing was withheld from teh brother of Jared because he lived so close to the Lord. It will be the same way with us. Knows that if he is faithful that he will see wonderful things. I feel that a Branch should be formed here. It will be an addition to their work Bro. Daniels should have the privilege to perform a specific labor. I know that by his diligence the barrier will be lifted and he will be a leader in Israel. I have been thinking of a name for this Branch. I should imagine that the name should be "the Branch of Love." This will make these meetings Branch activities instead of mere cottage meetings.
Discussion was held on organizing a branch at Bro. Daniels home.
It was decided that Bro. W. P. Daniels should be Branch President; Sister Clara Elizabeth Daniels should be Relief Society President; Sister Emma Beehre [illegible strikeout] should be 1st Councilor in the Relief Society; Sister Alice Daniels should be Secretary of the Relif [sic] Society and Branch Clerk. These members were set apart by Pres. Dalton, Elder Wilson Elder Randall, and Elder Knight respectively. The name was made the "Branch of Love."
Pres. Dalton congratulated the new members officers and assured them that this was a move in progression.
Closing Song—Doxology—Praise God from Whom, etc.
Benediction: Bro. Alvin Park
Sis Dalton encouraged the new officers and congratulated them.
