I[n] addition to the above I give the following: Doctor [John M.] Bernhisel informed me that Joseph looking him full in the face & as solemn as eternity.
“I am going as a lamb to the slaughter; but I am as calm as a summer’s morning. I have a conscience void of offence towards God & Man.”
