EDL cites DMK's comments from SWK about teaching in Africa.
E. Dale LeBaron, "African Converts without Baptism," (speech, November 3, 1998), Brigham Young University
One tender moment of rejoicing was shared by David M. Kennedy, who had served for years as President Kimball’s special ambassador in helping the Church enter new countries. Previous to the revelation, as they would study a large map of the world, Brother Kennedy would place one hand over the continent of Africa, saying, “We can’t go there unless they have the priesthood.” On June 8, 1978, a subdued President Kimball returned from the temple prior to announcing to the world the revelation that had been received. He stopped at Brother Kennedy’s office, opened the door, and, with deep emotion, said, “David, now you can take your hand off Africa.”
