About Sun Down, General Smith ordered a council to be called consisting of H[yrum] Smith J. P. Green Gen Dunham, Col Markham W[illiam] W. Phelps W[illard] Richards, Bishop Whitny [Newel K. Whitney] John Taylor & others, When Gen Smith stated, that if ever we are taken again Hyrum & I will be massacred, I have sent Br [Sidney] Rigdon away, I want to send Hiram away also to save him to avenge my blood.
