Brigham, in a sermon delivered at the Salt Lake tabernacle, teaches that Adam and Eve were made like us, but on another earth; Adam "was a finisher of this world" and "the supreme of the universe."
Brigham Young, March 25, 1855, in The Collected Discourses of Brigham Young, ed. Richard S. Van Wagoner, 5 vols. (Salt Lake City: The Smith-Pettit Foundation, 2009), 2:668
If you ask God who your grandfather is he will show him unto you and how to go and see him. Adam and Eve were made precisely as you and I are, coming from the materials of this earth and came from the materials of another earth, born of a father and mother precisely as you and I are. Father will not reveal all. Moses says she is side of your side, your equal, she had her exaltation. If they come from another earth how did they beget children. Adam was a finisher of this world, the supreme of the universe, the seed of the fruit was brought here and planted. I don't know what Eve's name was when she came here but she was the first woman. The angel can come here and eat bread and drink water and go home with you. They agreed to come here eat the fruit and transgress. Suppose this world had not have been made, where would you and I have been. Its stretching after things we don't know. If Adam and Ever had not eaten the fruit, he would have been kicked off the earth and somebody else brought here. I know what has taken place since I came here. The Lord gives his light like the lighthouse, up it comes, then dark and up it comes again. The Lord will try you in every time and place then be patient and be willing to be tried, don't be discouraged. The Lord has led the people to try their faith. Men are organized to be independent, then let the Saints be faithful and humble.
