Stanford University president Kenneth Pitzer suggests that the recognition of LDS Students Association is in jeopardy because of LDS "racial doctrine."

"For despite the fact that the controversial LDS racial doctrine (as held and preached by 'zealous' Stanford Mormons) has not changed, the LDS Students Association is still recognized by Stanford--as is the official status of Mr. Muren (LDS rep in campus ministry). As for the rule requiring that all such campus organizations must have 'purposes not inconsistent with the goals and standards of the University," President Pitzer explained: "We have not made a very strict interpretation of that rule. In fact we have been very loose in its interpretation."
